Our Camps

Watch the horses and mules contentedly graze while the sun dips behind snow-capped Crazy Mountains. Tuck into your sleeping bag, and drift off to sleep with the sound of whippoorwills swooping overhead and coyotes yipping in the distance. After a day of riding, exploring a craft, or hiking, your body is a good kind of tired — the kind of tired that makes you feel like you are getting closer to the good stuff in life.

We have two thoughtfully put-together camps with comfortable tented accommodations, full kitchen setups and outhouses. One camp is at our home-base near our horse corrals and roundpens, and the other is accessible by spending a few hours in the saddle to get to a back portion of the ranch. For our pack trips we will use both of these camps and also create our own roving campsites as we progress through the trip.

Home Base Camp & Cabin

This will be our jump-off point to all of our adventures! It is close to the horse corrals and the round pen and Abby and Alex’s home. Otter Creek runs within a few hundred feet of camp - a nice place to read or jump in the water to cool off. Our personal sleeping tents are in a semi-private area with trees. The sleeping tents we offer include ten small, personal canvas tents with floors and screen doors/ windows. We have cots, sleeping pads and pillows available for each of these, and ask that you bring your own sleeping bag.

*New for 2024!* - We have a small 500 sq ft cabin for rent. For curated retreats, typically the instructors will stay here, unless they choose otherwise. Attached to the outside of the cabin (next to the campground), we are building an outdoor shower available to all campers!

For communal space at this campsite we have a large 10' x 12' wall tent that can be used as a group dining or hangout area for cooking and gathering. We have a rustic outdoor sink with clean well water good for drinking, washing dishes and hands, as well as an outhouse nearby. We have a Camp Chef propane stove and coolers to use for those opting for the self-sufficient use of this campsite. We also have a number of outdoor chairs, picnic tables and a firepit to enjoy the evening.

We have some open dates for campers wanting to plan a custom trip, or nightly rentals during our summer 2024 season! Passing through on a road trip, or with your own camper? We’ve got you covered. Give us a shout. Call or text: 406-931-0285, or email at office@wideskyadventures.com to check availability.

Prairie Camp

About a 2 hour ride east from our home base (or a 5 hour ride if you go the long way!), our Prairie camp is set on a quiet grassland and tucked between two small buttes. In the morning, you’ll open your tent door to a view of the Crazy Mountains, and horses grazing nearby. The setup is similar to our home base camp. It has a large wall tent with a kitchen, tables and camp chairs, and we have individual canvas sleeping tents with us (same as the home base camp), or backpacking tents. We will have cots and mattresses available for a comfortable sleeping experience. There is an outhouse in this camp, and water for washing, drinking and cooking. The view is incredible, and the quiet is nourishing.
